EOS joins The Climate Pledge

EOS Security Limited signs The Climate Pledge.

The Climate Pledge was founded in 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism with a commitment to reach the Paris Agreement 10 years early and become net zero carbon by 2040. Since that time over 200 organisations throughout the world have signed up and joined in this commitment, some planning to be net zero carbon earlier than 2040.

In essence The Climate Pledge is a cross-sector community of companies, organisations, individuals, and partners working together to combat the climate crisis and solve the challenges of decarbonising our economy.

Signatories of the Pledge agree to three crucial commitments, namely:
(1) Measure and report on greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis.
(2) Implement decarbonatization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations, including efficiency improvements, renewable energy, materials reduction, and other carbon emission strategies.
(3) To neutralise any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040.

EOS Security Limited is proud to report and indeed honoured to join The Climate Pledge and commit to these goals by becoming net zero carbon by 2030, some twenty years ahead of The Paris Agreement.

The Climate Pledge have gained signatories and commitments from globally recognised brands such as Coco-Cola, Pepsi Co, Nespresso, Sainsbury's, CBRE, JLL, BT, ITV, Siemens, Microsoft, and VISA. Working in partnership with one aim, a better tomorrow, and leading to a net zero carbon economy.

Jon Webster, Founder and Managing Director of EOS Security Limited commented on this commitment; 'EOS is one of the many millions of SME's that make up over 90% of the worlds businesses and although global brands play a high stake in this aim, by adding smaller companies like us to the objective and commitment we can all work together to make a better and cleaner world for everyone'. He continued by saying; 'EOS is so very proud to be part of this commitment and will step up to the plate in our commitment to achieving our goals by 2030, having already achieved carbon neutral status. Our plan is set, our focus clear and our determination is dedicated to the task at hand'.

EOS Security Limited is a small Yorkshire business that creates bespoke security solutions for customers within the Environment, Agriculture, Community and People sectors throughout the UK. An award-winning company, EOS was awarded 4 International Awards (2021) in categories such as Environmental Best Practice, Innovation, Property Management and Global Leader.

'We completed a full review on our own carbon emission footprint, covering 2020-2021 and found that whilst small in size, our footprint itself was bigger than we had expected. Using scopes 1 and 2 we established clear and identifiable measures and steps that we could take to reduce these and put a plan into action to do such. From here, we created and set out our 5-year plan and indeed our objective to be net zero by 2030, which will include our scope 3.'

EOS also noted that their tree-planting campaigns had a large benefit to not only their own carbon offsetting but that of their customers. Jon Webster commented; 'We plant trees in three areas. Firstly, we plant locally, within Yorkshire itself. Secondly, we plant within The National Forest and finally within the United Nations Trillion Tree Campaign. This allows us to help make a difference locally, nationally, and globally. Furthermore, we plant trees for every customer, in their name and continue the process annually which allows our customers to further benefit from doing business with us as they can use this to help offset their own carbon footprint.'

EOS Security continues to take steps to reduce their own carbon footprint, takes positive and direct action to offset emissions and continuously reassess their supply chain network. For example, EOS use uniform made from recycled material (some made directly from plastic bottles), uses electronic reporting methods and renewable or green energy in both their business and in some of their security installations.

Jon Webster added 'With COP26 only a few days away there is no better time to stand up and demonstrate actions over words. We join other like-minded companies, through The Climate Pledge, in this journey towards a better tomorrow, for everyone.'
